Apple is taking a bite out of the competitive and popular tablet market.
Apple sold 3 million of its new iPad and iPad Mini during the new lineups' first weekend, double the number of Wi-Fi only new iPads sold on the launch weekend back in March, and majority of those sold the first weekend were the iPad Mini.
Many reviewers and critics are calling the iPad mini the best tablet Apple has released so far and most are calling it the best tablet on the market, even though many have criticized the lack of retina display on the iPad Mini, but rumors are the next release will include a retina display.
The big overall advantage Apple has over competitors in the tablet market is the millions of applications already available for download and ready to use. Windows and Android are still playing catch up in this department. Parents looking for games or teaching tools will favor the iPad and iPad Mini for this very reason.
But competitors like Amazon's Kindle Fire HD, have a huge advantage over Apple in two departments. Money and Movies, with the Kindle Fire HD the more penny pinching public sure welcome the $199 price tag compared to Apples cost of $329 for the cheapest iPad Mini. Also movie buffs will enjoy the Kindle Fire HD's ability to tap the Amazon movie universe and download millions of movies for a low monthly cost. This is a welcome bonus for constant travelers who are sick of watching in-flight movies that star Sarah Jessica Parker.
But overall Apple's iPad and iPad Mini are the big winners, it's winning so big that FoxConn, the Taiwanese manufacturer of Apple products is having trouble keeping up with production demands.
